I have a few times. The four horsemen used to be doable with a normal build, now trick 55 and SB builds are the easiest way of doing that quest. Three man is fairly common, but i've seen screens of it being done with two. The chaos plains can certainly be cleared with two,as i've done it.
I've done all quests, bar ice king and 4 horsemen a few times with a party of 8 mesmers using mostly mesmer skills and no low health/SB. Very fun What is sad is the way in which these challenging areas have been turned into farm zones Last edited by Shanaeri Rynale; Sep 06, 2006 at 07:10 AM // 07:10.. |

The reason in my opinion as to why that happened is because all the enemies are of singular specific types - there are very few mixed mobs thereby making a counter farming build doable.

Clearly "I've done all except..." "I've done all barring" means you haven't cleared ALL of UW. so lets start over and see if we can do this again from the beginning; How many people have cleared ALL the quests in UW on a single run? |

Gotta love the inability of some members to actually READ a topic, huh? Seems all too common Dralspire's done it, btw.

Done it too with a 3 man build (E/R, Mo/Me, N/Mo) with the Ele being the one to tank the mobs (so no 55 HP, nor 605 HP - the trick was to keep Obsidian Flesh up for 24 hours by using SQ and Enchmods -> Perma Spell Immunity) It's actually not as slow as some people think it is, there are basically two parts which take a bit longer than normal (Snake Mountain and the hated Horsemen Quest) though.
So yes, cleared the whole of UW including all quests in one go. |

I've cleared UW once, late last August in 2005.
We were a group of 5 eles and 3 monks, with 1 monk running an early prototype variation of the 105 prot bond build. It took us 5 hours, from 4am to 9am pst =) It was the group's 4th attempt, the 3rd time I had run w/ the group - a loosely assembled pug that had met during our various UW attempts, and over the 100th attempt by our illustrious monk tank leader. The plan was to clear out the chamber and head directly for the chaos planes and 4 horseman quest since that was the only one we could not yet complete. Our monk tank was testing different builds for tanking the mindblade mobs and finally hit on one that worked real well back then. So it was on our 2nd successful run through the chaos planes that we were ready to try the 4 horseman quest again. Our plan of attack was that our monk tank would keep SB on the reaper and keep him alive while we headed off and destroyed the incoming group of 2 horseman, dreamriders, wailing lords, mindblades, et al from the direction of the spawning pools. With 2 monks to back up 5 eles, we suffered a few casualties and several intense moments, but we rained fiery hell from the skies above. Then we rushed back to save our monk tank from certain destruction and after another intense battle defeated the remaining 2 horseman and company. After emerging victorious and anticipating rewards to come, we proceeded to clear the ice king, spawning pools, twin peaks area, and the other easy parts of uw. After 5 fast paced hours, we were reduced to killing spider pets and chained souls in an attempt to discover the secret rewards of clearing uw. And we were sadly disappointed. GW just hasn't been the same since then =) These days I regularly monk w/ pugs to clear quests such as Ice King and Unwanted Guests, Unwanted being my favorite quest. Gotta love those invincible aatxes when you're a monk! Sadly, few groups last long enough to go the the chaos planes, much less the spawning pools. Occasionally I'll do the Demon Assassin quest, but it's fairly boring. And pretty much never venture into the bone pits where it's hexes galore and always crappy drops. Few groups actually make it past the boredom of the Obsidian behemoths. These days the most groups I'm w/ ever do is 6-7 of the 10 quests you've listed. I certainly hope that Nightfall will provide more realms like UW/FOW to explore. Last edited by saphir; Sep 06, 2006 at 08:13 AM // 08:13.. |

Done, twice fully by myself with guildies. The only part that's hard at all is the Four Horsemen (for us). We frequently tear through the grand majority of the place without actually "completing" it.

Obsidian Flesh has a duration of 21 Seconds. Boosted up to 25 with an Enchantmentmod (19%-20%). It also has a recharge of 30 seconds so you're basically 5 seconds short. This is where Serpent's Quickness steps onto the stage. With an attribute spread of atleast 16 Earth and 9 (10 would be better as a safety net) Wilderness Survival, your SQ will last 24 Seconds. Recharge on Obsidian Flesh is cutdown by 33%, resulting in a 23 Second recharge. OF now is cast in a three cycle style. First: 1. Use SQ while or shortly before you cast Obsidian Flesh 2. Recast Obsidian Flesh when it ends, SQ should STILL be active by now. 3. SQ runs out and starts recharging shortly after you've casted OF again. By the time OF runs out, SQ is ready again. Rinse, repeat. Only downside to this is that you will either need a very grim energymanagement or more easy - a monk putting Balthazars Spirit on you. You can build a very powerful and nigh invincible Geomancer Tank this way that is able to deal strong AOE damage, has full permanent spellimmunity (you've got to love the sounds in the Chaos Planes... atleast when spell failures caused by OF still gave sounds. A massive horde of Spellclicks ) and be hit for 5-10 Damage at best (by Aatxes. Yep that's right). I'll let you figure out the rest of the build as i've allready said too much. But it's not rocket science either. Besides, while you're tanking this way. Make sure that you do NOT bring a recharge Wand/Staff/Foci. This will severly mess up your timing and get you killed really fast. You'd best be adviced to take +5 Energy,+20% enchantmend weapon and a shield that gives +30 Hp and -2 whlie enchanted. Even though you don't meet requirements of the shield it gives you a bit of AL but more importantly it reduces physical damage by another 2 points making you even more stable (most enemies will now hit you for 0s). How about I read into this topic and say it's the OP's feeble attempt at spam/trolling? The individual also seems slightly unstable. o.O
FYI: Fully cleared UW with a random PUG. >.> |
